About Crider

Why Crider Health Center?

Crider Health Center is committed to caring for its clients and their overall well being as well as that of their families. Crider Health Center believes in a wrap-around philosophy. "By using an individualized planning process rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, we are able to wrap needed services around the individuals and families that we serve," says Karl Wilson, Ph.D., President and CEO of Crider Health Center, “This results in a unique set of community services and natural supports for the purpose of achieving positive health outcomes."

In order to accomplish this approach, Crider Health Center, as stated in its mission, forms partnerships in the community with other local agencies and governmental entities to not only take care of physical and behavioral health needs, but to also ensure that people have adequate and healthy nourishment, housing, and the skills that they need to achieve their fullest potential. By treating the whole person rather than just the symptoms of their illness, individuals are empowered to live full, productive, healthy lives.

Since 1979, Crider Health Center has been serving the behavioral health needs of Franklin, Lincoln, Warren, and St. Charles Counties through a variety of services including Community Support, Crisis Response, Prevention Services and Counseling/Psychiatry. The organization was initially developed to serve the increasing need for community behavioral health services in the four-county area. In 2006, the Board of Directors voted to expand its services to include Primary Health Care and Dental Services. By providing this complete continuum of health care services, Crider is able to coordinate our customer's primary, behavioral, and dental health needs in the most effective and efficient manner possible.

How are services offered at low or no cost to Crider's clients? It's through the generous support of the community-based partners and those within the community, including corporations and individuals, as well as state and federal funding sources. Crider Health Center services and programs are only made available through the involvement and collaborative support of the entire community.

From preventive programs for at-risk youth to family dental care, Crider is a one-stop healthcare resource. Crider Health Center is committed to continue expanding and growing in order to meet the diverse needs of the community.
